As I have explored natures survivors, I had a strong feeling that I must create something that explains how books are surviving in society today, against all odds. It had been snowing pretty heavily on the moors, so I took a crate of books up and began to photograph them in the snow.
After playing around with the books and various compositions I scoped around the woods for the right place to display a large household encyclopaedia, which I had cut a hole threw its pages. Once I had found a spot that felt right, I set up my tripod and began by taking a picture of the book, open and empty in the snow. I then began to fill the book with pot plants, one at a time, creating a visual timeline; like the book was becoming one with nature, adapting in order to survive.
